My first appartment here in Stockholm was two flights up from the street, but the address was "1 tr", litterary, "one stair", that is the first floor. The floor below me was "nedre botten", that is the bottom floor. Apparently, the entrance was in the basement... And there were some kind of logic. The store rooms that went with the apartments were in the entrance level. These store rooms (which you find in most Swedish blocks of flats) are typically referred to as "basement stores". |
