Mark Brader:
These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2018-03-12,
and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers to the newsgroup in a single followup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of Bill Psychs and are

been retyped and/or edited by me. For further information see

Here is a round on Canada's role in global affairs.

over Antarctica slowly recovering. *What Canadian city* is the
protocol named for?

2. Canada was an early proponent of the International Criminal
Court. What is the name of the *Canadian lawyer* who served
as a judge of the ICC from 2003 to 2009 and was the Court's
first president?

3. Who was the Canadian Force Commander of the United Nations

in 1993. Canadian troops came under fire and two paratroopers
beat and tortured a local teenager to death. In *what country*
did this mission take place?

8. Until recently, Canada was one of the world's largest exporters
of a product now considered dangerous, with the vast majority of
the exports going to developing countries where workers didn't
always have the training to use it safely. What product?

9. Name the *Canadian lawyer* who is currently the UN Special
Representative for International Migration, was previously
the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and was the Chief
Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunals for the
former Yugoslavia and Rwanda.

10. In 2007, Canada was one of four countries to vote against a UN

finally fully adopted this declaration -- on what subject?

* Game 8, Round 3 - Entertainment - Movies Set on Planes

Two weeks ago we had books set on trains. This week we have movies
set on planes -- in each case, give the title.

1. 2012. An airline pilot saves almost all his passengers when
his plane malfunctions and he loses control, but an investigation
into the accident reveals something troubling. (Starring Denzel
Washington, Don Cheadle, and Melissa Leo.)

2. 1996. When terrorists seize control of an airliner, an
intelligence analyst accompanies a commando unit for a mid-air
boarding operation. (Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal, Halle Berry.)

3. 1980. A man afraid to fly must ensure that a plane lands
safely after the pilots become sick. (Robert Stack, Lloyd
Bridges, Leslie Nielsen.)

4. 2005. A bereaved woman and her daughter are flying home
from Berlin to America. At 30,000 feet, the child vanishes,
and nobody will admit she was ever on the plane. (Jodie Foster,
Peter Sarsgaard, Sean Bean.)

5. 1997. Hijackers seize the plane carrying the President of the
United States and his family, but he -- an ex-soldier -- works
from hiding to defeat them. (Harrison Ford, Glenn Close,
Gary Oldman.)

6. 1970. A bomber on board an airplane, an airport almost closed
by snow, and various personal problems of the people involved.
(Burt Lancaster, Dean Martin, George Kennedy.)

7. 1992. An airline security expert must take action when he
finds himself trapped on a passenger jet after terrorists seize
control of it. (Bruce Greenwood, Tom Sizemore, Wesley Snipes.)

8. 2006. An FBI agent takes on a plane full of deadly, venomous
reptiles, deliberately released to kill a witness being flown
from Honolulu to Los Angeles to testify against a mob boss.
(Samuel L. Jackson, Julianna Margulies, Kenan Thompson.)

9. 2014. An air marshal springs into action during a transatlantic
flight after receiving a series of text messages demanding
$150,000,000 sent to an offshore account, or someone will die
every 20 minutes. (Liam Neeson, Julianne Moore, Lupita Nyong'o.)

10. 1997. About-to-be-paroled former US Ranger Cameron Poe finds
himself trapped on a prisoner-transport plane when the other
prisoners seize control. (Ving Rhames, John Malkovich,
Nicolas Cage.)

also one for the Queen. I decided to reword the question to duck
the issue.
