FRONTSTRETCH TRIVIA:
Q: Gray Gaulding was recently announced as a driver for BK Racing for the vast majority of 2017. However, Daytona is an exception to that rule for two reasons. Firstly, the team previously announced that Joey Gase will race for them in the Daytona 500.
Secondly, Gaulding has been deemed ineligible to drive at Daytona, despite having previously raced there in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards (he finished ninth last year for Lira Motorsports). What was NASCAR's rationale for not licensing Gaulding to race Cup at Daytona?
Check back Tuesday for the answer, here in the Frontstretch Newsletter!

Q: Recently, Daytona International Speedway announced that the former Sprint Unlimited will be called the Advance Auto Parts Clash at Daytona in 2017. That particular race has had a number of formats over the years. What was the original format when the race began back in 1979?
A: When the Clash was first created, it was an all-out 20 lap sprint. Nine drivers raced as hard as they could for $50,000 to win. Buddy Baker won that race in the Harry Ranier-owned No. 28 Oldsmobile. Only J.D. McDuffie, who qualified for the race by winning the pole at Dover on McCreary tires the previous year, failed to finish.
