Ryan Preece Hoping to Return to Sprint Cup Series Competition in 2016

Towards the end of the 2015 season, Whelen Modified Tour ace Ryan Preece made his Sprint Cup Series debut with Tommy Baldwin Racing in a second entry using the points from Premium Motorsports' No. 98.  A couple more starts followed.  For 2016, Preece is hoping to continue to compete at the highest level.  Read more

Ben Rhodes to Run in Truck Series for ThorSport

On Tuesday, ThorSport Racing announced that 2014 K&N Pro Series East Champion Ben Rhodes will join the team on a full-time basis in 2016 and compete for Rookie of the Year in the Camping World Truck Series.  Rhodes will drive the No. 41 Toyota (likely re-numbered from No. 98) with sponsorship from Alpha Energy Products.  Read more

IndyCar Increases Push-to-Pass Horsepower for 2016

Last Tuesday, INDYCAR announced that there will be an increase in the amount of Push-to-Pass boost available to drivers during the 2016 season.  The change is only five kilopascals of pressure, but that should be enough to give the cars an extra 70 or so horsepower on the button as opposed to 50.  Read more

Q:  In the run up to the 1996 Rolex 24 at Daytona, ESPN's Marty Reid was able to convince one of the GTS-2 teams to let him have at it in testing with one of their cars for a piece that eventually aired during the broadcast of the race.  For what team was Reid driving and what car was he in control of?

Q:  In the 1980's, the Winston West Series held a number of road races in addition to the Riverside and Sears Point races in conjunction with Winston Cup.  The venues included two street courses. Where were these street races?

A:  In 1986, a temporary street course was set up around the Tacoma Dome in Washington for a 200-kilometer race that was won by eventual series champion Hershel McGriff.  Chad Little won the the 1987 edition  1987 also saw a second street race added to the schedule, this one on the other side of Washington in Spokane on a 1.65 mile course that included bridges and a tunnel just past the start-finish line.  Roy Smith won both 4th of July weekend races in Spokane.
