3 The ancient Greek philosopher Socrates was executed with which poisonous herb (Conium maculatum)?
4 Ace Frehley, Peter Criss and Eric Carr are former members of which hard rock band?
5 In October 2008, Vladimir Putin released an instructional video on which martial art, practised by himself since age 12?
6 Which American NFL team lost four consecutive Super Bowls from 1991 to 1994?
7 Which author's (b. 1939) novels include: "A Handmaid's Tale", "A Cat's Eye" and "Alias Grace"?

Yeah, as I read the question, the name sounded familiar, but I could only
think of a mushroom, and since mushrooms are not vegetables in my view of
the world, and even less "a vegetable", I thought Calvin was thinking of
think of something else, like a zucchini.

Read the question too quickly it seems!

2 One of the few screen legends remaining, he will (hopefully!) turn 99 in

8 Who was sacked as Australian cricket captain in 1971?
9 Porcini is a variety of which vegetable?

It's not, it's the fruiting body of a Boletus Edulis and is in my humble
opinion, the king of all edible mushrooms.

10 Name either of the US states that border Washington DC.

Oregon.

tartan and plaid are also Scottish patterns, but aren't epotopes.

Some gave other drinks. If any of them are made with the given
ingredients and are epotopes, I'll accept them. Let me know.

limousine or Limousin

I worded the clue that way because there's a French city named Sedan.
It's just a coincidence that it's spelled the same as another body
style, but I didn't want anyone to mistakenly give that answer.

morocco

Any answer with "morocco" in it was acceptable. The clue and the
"morocco-bound" answers some gave refer to a wretched pun[1] from the
Hope/Crosby/Lamour movie "Road to Morocco".
