*Note*: In order not to have to delay the end of Game 6 until
I return from an upcoming trip, I'm starting Rounds 9-10 early.
This set is running concurrently with Rounds 7-8 for the next
day or so as I write.

These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2014-10-27,
and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers in a single followup to the newsgroup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of Unnatural Axxxe, and are
used here by permission, but have been reformatted and may have
been retyped and/or edited by me. For further information see
my 2014-09-15 companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian
Inquisition (QFTCI*)".

* Game 6, Round 9 - Entertainment - The Lives of Brian

Underrepresented as they may be among popes, kings and, emperors,
there are nevertheless some famous Brians. This round is dedicated
to Axxxe's own Brian.

1. The original famous Brian who got it all started, High King
of Ireland and founder of the O'Brien line. In April 2014 we
celebrated the 1,000th anniversary of his great victory and
death at the Battle of Clontarf. Brian who?

2. There has only been one Canadian Prime Minister Brian. Name him.

3. Remember the Battle of the Brians? "South Park" asked the
musical question "What Would Brian Boitano Do?" -- but *we*
ask who is the other Brian, also a Canadian?

4. The most-capped international rugby union player of all time
retired in 2014, and he is a Brian. This all-time Irish
rugby great is often known by his initials BOD, as in
"In BOD we trust". Name him.

5. Who discovered the Beatles in 1961 and managed them until his
death in 1967?

6. A founding member of the Rolling Stones, expelled from the band
in 1969, he tragically drowned in his swimming pool soon after.
Who?

7. "Blessed are the cheesemakers". Biggus Dickus. "Always Look
on the Bright Side of Life". Which of the Pythons portrayed
Brian in the movie of his Life?

8. Also titled "Life of Brian", a TV-series episode saw character
Brian Griffin run over by a car and killed. The series is called
"Family Guy" -- which family member is Brian?

9. Name the director whose movies include "Carrie" and "Scarface".

10. And finally a Bryan with a Y, to show that we don't
discriminate. Who played Walter White on "Breaking Bad"?

* Game 6, Round 10 - Halloween Challenge Round

A. History: Famous Ghosts

A1. The ghost of this person, who was executed in 1536 for
treason, is said to haunt London's St. Peter ad Vincula,
where she is buried. Her apparition is often reported to
be carrying her head in her hand. Who is she?

A2. This president's ghost reportedly haunts the White House.
Winston Churchill said he'd emerged from a bath naked save
for a cigar when he encountered him, and said: "Good evening,
Mr. President. You seem to have me at a disadvantage."
Name that spectral President.

B. Literature: Famous Ghosts

B1. In "Macbeth", Act 3, Scene 4, Macbeth is haunted at a banquet
by the ghost of which character?

B2. Only one of the four ghosts in Dickens's "A Christmas Carol"
has a name, rather than a description. Who?

C. Science: The Pathology of Fear

C1. Sleep paralysis -- a disorder for which hallucinations are
listed among its side effects -- has been suggested as a
rational explanation for persistent myths like demons and
succubi. Since World War II, it is also the suspected
explanation for a new, widely-reported other-worldly
phenomenon. What?

C2. In debunking a still-popular instrument of spiritualism,
19th-century physicist Michael Faraday discovered the
ideometer effect -- in which the power of suggestion causes
our muscles to move unconsciously. What parlor "game" was
he investigating?

D. Entertainment: The Men Behind the Masks

We'll name the actors who played certain screen bogeymen. You name
*either* the character or the movie/series.

D1. Robert Englund.

D2. Kane Hodder is the most famous of the 9 people who've played
this character.

E. Geography: Famous Ghost Towns

E1. Once a city of 50,000, Pripyat is now an uninhabited tourist
attraction -- although for safety reasons, you're only
allowed to visit for a few hours. In which country is
Pripyat?

E2. Prior to 1974, the resort city of Famagusta was one of
the most popular tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.
Now it's uninhabited and in ruins. Where is it?

F. Canadiana: Canadian Scream Queens

F1. The most famous screamer in screen history, this actress was
born in rural Alberta on 1907-09-15. Her screamy character's
name was Ann Darrow, and her leading man was a bit of
a beast. Name her.

F2. Born 1922-09-01 in Vancouver, her career in stage, screen,
and television spanned six decades. But she's best known
as the ghoulish matriarch on TV's "The Munsters". Name her.

No. No European comics at all.
They differ quite a bit from the American Marvel ones,
in that they seldom have super powers.

No doubt it would also be shameful to misspell his name, then.

Many people consider Britain to be part of Europe.
