> * Game 6, Round 2 - Science - Just Call Sol

> A round on our solar system. Answers may repeat.

> 1. How many planets have rings?

4. 4 for Joshua, Dan Tilque, and Peter. 3 for Dan Blum.

The rings of Saturn are visible in a small telescope, but the
rings of Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune are quite faint and were
not discovered until the late 20th century. Here's are Jupiter's
rings, photographed in a way that makes them visible:

http://web.gps.caltech.edu/~mbrown/images/keckring.html

(Mike Brown is the same guy who discovered the 10th planet in our
solar system and then did his best to have "planet" redefined so
it wouldn't count, as per question 6.)

Here's a Hubble Space Telescope photo of Uranus with its rings:

http://www.sun.org/uploads/images/Uranus_with_rings.jpg

And here's one from the probe Voyager II showing Neptune and its
rings:

That is to say, its axis of rotation is more nearly parallel to its
orbital plane than perpendicular to it.

Peter, and Rob.

Jupiter. 4 for Dan Blum. 3 for Rob.

Saturn is next shortest. Mercury and Venus were other popular
guesses, but in fact they have the *longest* days, so long that
the solar and sidereal days are completely different in length
in each case.

Jupiter. 4 for Joshua, Marc, Dan Tilque, Bruce, Peter, and Rob.
