Dear Stephen,
Thanks for the WWI information, I’m sure this will be of interest to some members.
There seems to be a little misunderstanding about my GOOGLE group.
All mail send to visual-media@googlegroups.com is for public use, members and non-members.
Obviously, only members can send but everybody can read the messages online.
Even when messages sounds private (answering to somebody) they are always mentioned for the whole group hoping that other members can provide useful information
Indeed, mails can become long, for this when answering to a mail one can always remove the older content which was already received by the many other members. (and stays available online)
I have done this with this mail as a sample.
Only people who agree and register to become a member are receiving these mails.
In preferences one can determine how to receive these mail, as they occur, one daily mail with all messages grouped or read the group online without receiving messages.
All members can determine these preferences for themself, even unsubscribing from the group.
Currently the group has more the 600 members worldwide and still continuously growing.
The more members, the more change the Q will find an A.
All best,
Thomas

Hello,
I don't know if this message will
reach anyone. I seem to receive many messages from "visual-media" but I don't know who sends them. These messages are huge, with numerous other messages attached to them.
Anyway, there seems to be some interest in World War 1 lantern slides. I know that there are several UK collectors who have such slides. I also know that there were film cameramen who went to film in Belgium in the early days of WW1.
Please don't respond to this via this site. I have spent long hours trying to remove these huge messages from my inbox. I don't subscribe to "twitter" or "facebook".
I have great respect for T Weynants and others who seem to generate these emails, but I just don't understand how to deal with them.
If you want more information about lantern slides about WW1 I would suggest you join the Magic Lantern Society of UK or of USA/Canada. You can easily find these online.
Sincerely,
Stephen Bottomore
