Hi Sarah,

No readings I'm afraid, only the lists of slides for 2 of the 3 requested (they can be useful). The Newton list was published in the 1930's but quite probably were originally Wilson slides (after the war, Newton acquired the slide stocks from many of the smaller slide producers).

“Picturesque Holland" is from a Peter Feathers catalogue dated 1896-7. They were only a supplier, so I do not know who first published them.

I also have very few Dutch slides.

I hope this helps a little bit,

Good luck,

Lester

Subject: [visual-media:332] Lantern Slide Series and Readings on the Netherlands/Holland

Dear group members,

For my research on lantern slide series at Utrecht University (The Netherlands), depicting the Dutch and the Netherlands, I am looking for the Slide Series and readings

“Picturesque Holland”, production unknown (to me), before 1902

“A visit to Holland”, produces probably by Hughes before 1902.

I already asked the University of Exeter, The British Film Institute and the Magic Lantern Society UK if they have this reading in their collection, but no one could find it yet.

If have any idea whom I could turn to, please let me know.

Also, I am looking for the slides to

“Cities and Canals of Holland”, produced by Wilson in the 1890s.

(I do not want to purchase them but would like to see them for study purposes only if possible)

If you have any other hints or references to lantern slides series (especially of non-UK origin) or want to exchange with me on that topic, please contact me. I am very willing to share my research results so far!

Thank you for your help,

Kind regards,

Sarah Dellmann
