I want to protest this one. Tides aren't really the answer. After all,
tides happen twice a day. Coral eggs and sperm meet because they are
released at the same time, once a year, based on the full moon and water
temperature.

So I think "full moon" is a better answer. If you need a cite:

"Full moon – the timing of mass coral spawning is linked to the lunar
cycle, happening after the full moon and when water temperatures rise
sufficiently to stimulate the process"

Interesting and correct (at least for some species of corals, but they're
the ones whose reproduction is extraterrestrially influenced). Apparently
the original answer (which, by the way, was also my guess at the original
game) was just wrong. Sorry, I had no idea.

4 for Dan Tilque and Calvin only, then.
