So it is, but I wrote "followup", the noun, which is one word, and
Stephen is misquoting me above.

my google search shows the noun as a hyphenated word. but that's just me trying to mentally exhaust Mark.

and per my 8th grade yearbook quote, bad analogies are like corn.

It can be that too. Hyphens tend to disappear over time.

I don't much care what you do mentally. :-)

It's trickier than you may think. The normal spelling of the last
part of his last name is "sköld" (it means "shield"), but as
often is the case family names often have alternate spelling. I
had to think for a second when I entered the name, but I am quite
sure that the "j" should be there.

Digest for rec.games.trivia@googlegroups.com - 3 updates in 3 topics

msb@vex.net (Mark Brader): Sep 26 06:09AM

Now begins the Current Events game from the Usual Suspects' season
(indicated by QFTCI and the year but without a team abbreviation).

These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on the dates
indicated, and should be interpreted accordingly. If any answers
have changed due to newer news, you are still expected to give
the answers that were correct on that date.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers in a single followup to the newsgroup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

Tommy John. 4 for Dan Tilque, Stephen, and Joshua.

"Jeopardy!" asked about this surgery 2 weeks before the original
game, in a category on surgical operations. Their version was:
"Joba Chamberlain used the scar from the elbow surgery named for
this fellow pitcher as part of a smiley face tattoo". This was
a Daily Double rated at $1,200, and the player it went to, the
returning champion, was a doctor. He bet $12,000, but had no guess,
and went on to lose the game.

There were no separate Winter Olympics in 1908, but a few winter

Tom Jones and the Art of Noise is another correct answer.

When I saw the question, I only thought "Tom Jones" and my brain did
not even have any "and the" at that point. And since there is likely to
more than one song called "Kiss", I did not try to hard of think of
any accompanying band.

But when the answers Prince and the Revolution" started to trickle in,
my mind became more clear that it was a collaboration. With whom, I still
didn't know, so I turned to Google in curiousity.

And while I was at it, I played both Tom Jones and Prince on YouTube. And,
yes, it is the same song. Penned by Prince, I assume, although I did not
check that part.
